The Channel 7 Children’s Research Foundation has been supporting the world-class medical research and service organisations of South Australia for almost 45 years.

Research undertaken in community-based studies, clinical studies, and basic science projects in all areas of children’s health, education and welfare are supported, with extra weighting given in the grant review process to the Foundation’s priority areas of child protection, mental health, the effects of obesity and understanding the social determinants of childhood health and development.

In 2016 a partnership was established between the Channel 7 Children’s Research Foundation, SAHMRI and the University of Adelaide’s Robinson Research Institute to appoint International Human Genetics expert, Professor Jozef Gécz, as the Channel 7 children’s Research Foundation Chair for the Prevention of Childhood Disability.

In this role, Professor Gécz, who was named South Australia’s Scientist of the Year in 2019, leads a comprehensive multi-disciplinary research program in Adelaide, focused on defining the origins and early diagnosis of childhood disability.
