University of South Australia

Overview:

This project aims to evaluate a play-based intervention for improving the social play skills and pragmatic language skills of children who have experienced trauma. Mounting evidence suggests that children with histories of trauma are at risk of developing severe mental health conditions. Implementing timely, effective psycho-social interventions is therefore important. In addressing the adverse effects of trauma, researchers have identified factors that protect against childhood adversity. Friendships and social support during childhood play a significant role in developing resilience.
