SEVEN ADELAIDE HAS THANKED DENNIS EARL WHO RETIRES AFTER 40 YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE CHANNEL 7 CHILDREN’S RESEARCH FOUNDATION.

The foundation was established in 1976 by Seven Adelaide (then Channel 10) for the welfare of children, with Earl as founding board member. He was elected Chairman in 1992.

Seven Adelaide General Manager Tony Davison said: “The Foundation was established in 1976 using funds raised by The Channel Seven Christmas Appeals which were telecast annually over several years. Since 1976, the Foundation has donated more than $24 million to medical research specifically concerned with children’s health.”

“Channel Seven and the South Australia medical community are indebted to Dennis for his vision and selfless service over so many years. He retires as Chairman with our deep gratitude and very best wishes.”

Dennis formally retired at the Channel 7 Children’s Research Foundation AGM on November 29, with Len Frankham announced as the new CRF Chairman.

Len Frankham said: “Dennis has left big shoes to fill. He has been the guiding light for the Foundation since its inception and particularly since he took on the role of Chairman 24 years ago. He has seen its capital develop from a base of a few thousand dollars to one in which, over the years, has facilitated grants to child health researchers in South Australia and the Northern Territory totalling in excess of $24 million.”

“Dennis has been particularly concerned with the development and encouragement of young researchers so that they could get a good start in their chosen fields. His humour and sense of fairness has made him a joy to work with and his leadership will be greatly missed.”
